Kata Beach, on the west coast of Phuket island, is one of the most visited beaches after Patong Beach. Kata enjoys a lovely sandy bay with an incredibly blue sea and an iconic island standing in the middle of the ocean, making excellent sunset photos.
Kata is less crowded than Patong but still offers a vast choice of dining venues, shopping, nightlife, daytime activities, sightseeing and hotels. This beach is also known to be a great family destination.
Moreover, it has a convenient location, on the one hand it is adjacent to a more developed and large Karon beach, and on the other, with a small but cozy and quiet Kata Noi beach. To get from Kata to both of these beaches on foot, Karon beach is 1.5 km away and Kata Noi beach is only a kilometer away.
Surfing is popular during the low season, usually between June and November. The waves are not big, but the south end of the beach is a great spot to learn. You can easily rent all kinds of surfboards anywhere along the beach.
Karon viewpoint, a few kilometers south of Kata Beach, offers a beautiful panoramic view of three bays: Kata Noi, Kata Beach and Karon in the far. This viewpoint, one of the most famous sights of Phuket, is easy to access by the seaside road.

Dino Park is a well-designed dinosaur-themed mini-golf with its cool volcano! It is well designed, and it’s great fun to play with friends or family, but it can get hot in there.
Phuket's Big Buddha is one of the most important and revered landmarks on the island. The huge image sits on top of the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata and is 45m tall. The lofty site offers the best 360-degree views of the island, with sweeping vistas of Phuket Town, Kata, Karon, Chalong Bay and more.
Visit Kata Night Market, a covered shopping area with an expansive food court and mostly tourist-oriented stalls. Located on Patak Road, it's impossible to miss the giant gorilla and Hulk statues by the market's entrances. You can find plenty of good bargains for meals and souvenirs.
